Kitab Pendekar
The Pendekar Book
Kitab Pendekar: how everything worksPendekar is a browser RPG set in Malaysia, played the old-school way: click to walk, click to work, and level eight skills on a steady 0.6-second beat. This book is the whole of it written down: every skill, item, creature, quest and formula, read straight from the game's own code. It is also where new systems are designed before they are built. The first of those is tools: a hatchet for wood, a net for fish.
New: tools of the trade
Right now anyone can fell a tree with bare hands and pull fish out of the sea with nothing at all. The next three versions change that. Every way of gathering gets its tool, the tools come in tiers, and the forest and the river get things worth upgrading for.
Read the tools design, or jump to hatchets and the forest, nets, jigs, traps and lines, or the build plan.

How to read this book
- Live · v0.35
- In the game now. Numbers are read from the game build named at the foot of every page.
- Planned · Tools I
- Designed, not built yet. The version is the one meant to ship it. Expect the numbers to move.
- Idea
- Worth doing one day. Not scheduled.
- Ticks
- The game runs on a beat of 0.6 seconds, a tick. Times are given in ticks with seconds beside them.
- Names
- English first, then the Malay name in italics, the way the game shows them: Timber Kayu.
- Chances
- “35%” means each attempt has that chance; an attempt is a fixed number of ticks.
